Message from College Nurse Natasha

Hello, my name is Ms Natasha Jacobs and I am the college nurse at Sirius College Eastmeadows Campus. I have been a college nurse for the past 3 years. Before coming to Sirius College, I worked as a college nurse in South Morang, which also had a large number of students. For the past five years, I have also been running a First Aid training business, and am very passionate about nursing and first aid training.

I live in South Morang with my partner and two children. In 2005 I graduated from Victoria University, where I completed a Bachelor in Health Science Nursing degree. Over the past 12 years I have been working in many different areas as a nurse. In 2007 I completed a post graduate degree in Clinical Nursing- Child and Adolescent Health.

REMINDERS TO FAMILIES

A note from the School Counsellor

Back to school

Starting a new school, changing classes, finding new friends and meeting new teachers can be overwhelming for young people as a new school-year begins. Friendships are particularly important to young children for many reasons – from having an emotional support to feeling a sense of belonging and acceptance.

As a parent, taking time to help your child build and nurture strong friendships will alleviate some of the difficulties faced during this period. One way you can achieve this is by teaching your children to be a good friend and help your children recognise a bad friend. Prepare your child for difficult situations by educating them all about bullying, teaching them to be independent and encouraging them to develop their own individuality.

Hoping for a happy year ahead.
